We are Production Wise – History
Its safe to say our linage lay in Public Address systems of all flavors. Line Array, Point Source, wedges or column we had our try with it.
From the Massive Electro-Voice MT4 and MT2 (EV MT4H and EV MT4L) to EAW KF850, Martin Audio W8C, Synco and Longbow to L’Acoustic ARC and VDOSC, Renkus 3T boxes and Meyer’s Milo to much smaller Nexo PS15 and PS10 and even some Martin Audio LE’s.. Band touring sound and monitors was our life.
Then came projectors, multi-unit conferencing systems, wi-fi projector connectivity, LCD and LED digital signage, multi-panel displays, outdoor IP65 daylight screens and right at the end – VC (Video Conferencing).
Linking all of these together is a trick – something that takes a lifetime to learn and two- to hone and sharpen.

De Aar Regional Hospital
On the 15th April 2010, Premier of the Northern Cape Province, Ms. Hazel Jenkins and the MEC for Health in the province, Mr. Mxolisi Sokatsha laid the first brick at the new Regional Hospital in de Aar. At that time, we were contacted by my customer to help with the design and procurement of an audio visual and conferencing system at the main meeting venue as well as the cafeteria and smaller venues in the complex.
From the onset we were at one with the consulting engineers in Kimberley. Even though the budget was not limitless, we had the freedom to use systems that would be the best for the venue and function and not worry too much about the total budget. The original briefing was to fill the 50m x 25m space with brilliantly audible sound, tailored for speech and conferencing. Another function of the venue was to cater for 60 delicates in a conference setting with a screen and self-managed projection system large enough for the venue.
Other features were also introduced like 240V power at all the seats and network points at all the seats and a voice paging and a high-z, 100V background music system in the cafeteria.
We immediately started drawing up the AV components for this venue and presented an 8-a-side Martin Audio O-Line, micro line array system with two dual 10” Martin Audio Subs powered by the Martin Audio MA range of 4-channel amplifiers and processed through the Allen&Heath IDR8 matrix / audio processor. Because of the low channel count, which consisted of 4 x Clock Audio UHF radio microphones, a set gooseneck microphones on the lectern and a pair of outputs from the conference system, we opted for the Allen&Heath ZED14 mixer.
The conferencing system consisted of all Taiden HCS4100 flush-mount delicate units, 60 in total, and one tabletop chairman unit for the lectern, able to be re positioned as needed. The Taiden system made for a perfect, all-round recorder, discussion and general conferencing solution. Switching between its internal modes of operation instantly change the configuration from a loosely controlled discussion or free-to-talk setting to a very ridged time allocated address system. Between the clever Martin Audio O-Line setup, where hard avoid arias can be isolated from sound, and the high class Taiden directional microphones, with individual gain control, there was little change of feedback ever happening, now – or in future.
The projection system consisted of a large Grandview Cyber 200” motorized screen and a 6000 ANSI Lumens Vivitek DU 6 Series projector controlled by a neat little Neats QUEBEC controller, able to switch the projector on and off and also selecting last connected device to project. Installing the 25Kg machine over 8m high in a very un-accessible roof proofed to be the challenge but, overall the results was magnificent.
We installed the complete system over the course of six days on-and-off, as the site allowed, and officially signed off a fully functional, fully commissioned and tested venue on behalf of our customer in 2017.
This project perfectly describes our work from inception to commissioning. Every part of the way being enthusiastic and approachable, using the best budget will allow and creating a reliable and functional space to meet or present in.
